Refine it where we mine it

"Refine it Where We Mine it", a public campaign advocating for more Alberta upgraders, is pushing the province to process more Alberta oil here at home.

The partnership of municipalities and industry says the government should provide incentives and invest in infrastructure. But others say it's not government's job and the private sector should bear the costs.

What kind of economic impact could more upgraders have? Is the timing right to build them? And should taxpayers help foot the multi-billion dollar price-tag?

Joining us for this conversation are Neil Shelly, executive director of the Industrial Heartland Association, the group driving the "Refine it Where We Mine it" campaign, Gil McGowan is president of the Alberta Federation of Labour and Scott Hennig is Alberta Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.
