News of a jump in the jobless rate has the Alberta Federation of Labour calling for a provincial stimulus plan, after numbers released indicate our jobless rate went up slightly to 6.7 per cent.
AFL president Gil McGowan says the job crisis continues in Alberta and money needs to be invested to create employment opportunities.
Meanwhile, he tells 660News that critics of public spending are ignoring the building blocks of job creation and without education, infrastructure and other factors paid through the public sector, there is no modern economy.
McGowan adds that Alberta is still stuck in a recession, E.I. benefits are running out for many, leaving many people with few options.
