Why a Lobby Day?

The last two provincial budgets have included harmful cuts and privatization to our public services. Specifically, the goal of our 2020 Lobby Day is to speak directly to MLAs about the importance of protecting our public health care, and public education from planned cuts and privatization.

MLAs have heard from us in the media and rallying in the street, but now they need to hear from our members (their constituents) directly in the legislature. The Lobby Day will allow our members, as labour activists, the opportunity to meet one-on-one with their representatives to discuss issues important to working families – issues that profoundly affect all of us as Albertans.

Lobby Day Schedule

8:00 a.m. - Training Breakfast

• Tips and training on how to lobby an MLA

10:00 a.m. - Lobby Meetings with MLAs

• Participants meet with MLAs in pairs or groups throughout the morning

1:00 p.m. - Observe Question Period

• A chance to watch your elected representatives in action.

5:00 - 7:00 p.m. - MLA Reception

• A chance to interact with fellow labour activists and MLAs.
